Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport  - Project Overview

Security Screening & Pier B Bussing Upgrades

 Client: Johnson Controls
Completion Status:  Completed 2025

Integrata delivered two concurrent BMS and HVAC controls projects within operational areas of Sydney International Airport in partnership with Johnson Controls — both completed in 2025. Works spanned the T1 Main Screening Security Upgrade and the Pier B Bussing mechanical systems upgrade, with the majority of works undertaken after-hours by security-cleared personnel under strict operational staging and access requirements.

T1 Main Screening Security Upgrade:

The T1 scope involved BMS installation and controls infrastructure works associated with HVAC systems serving critical airport screening environments.

  • New BMS control panels, enclosures, and Johnson Controls network control engines

  • BACnet MSTP communications infrastructure and control cabling

  • Integration of HVAC mechanical plant and field devices including zone temperature sensors, differential pressure switches, duct static pressure transmitters, and current switches

  • Point-to-point testing and commissioning support within occupied operational spaces and curfew zones

Pier B Bussing BMS Upgrade:

The Pier B scope involved a Johnson Controls Metasys BMS deployment across multiple air handling systems and mechanical plant serving airport bussing and passenger movement infrastructure.

  • BMS installation and integration across AHU-1 through AHU-12, FCU systems, lift ventilation, exhaust fans, and VSD-controlled mechanical plant

  • Johnson Controls Metasys platform with BACnet MSTP field controllers integrated to supervisory controllers and third-party systems

  • BACnet/IP, Modbus, Schneider CRAC, and Mitsubishi HLI integrations

  • Field device installation including duct COâ‚‚ sensors, humidity transmitters, differential pressure switches, temperature sensors, Belimo valve and damper actuators, and fan status monitoring devices

  • MSSB mechanical interfaces and VSD speed control systems

  • COâ‚‚, differential pressure, and temperature and humidity monitoring throughout

Both projects were coordinated closely with airport operations teams across overlapping delivery programmes within live, security-controlled passenger environments.
